Its All Just Wine…

Maya was perplexed by Zan’s inexplicable behavior. Whenever Zan was with his friends, he would become impolite to her and would even insult her if he saw her talking to any other guy. Despite this, Maya believed that these actions were merely signs of love, and she thought that Zan was incapable of expressing his emotions properly.

Anil, a friend of Maya’s, attempted to persuade her that this was not how a healthy relationship should function, but Maya was not willing to accept it.

One evening, when Zan had been drinking, he burnt Maya’s arm with a cigarette butt. Maya had requested that he not drink excessively and think about his future, but Zan had become increasingly reliant on alcohol.

Strangely, Zan never seemed to remember any of his abusive actions toward Maya in the morning. Maya contemplated leaving Zan due to the escalating toxicity of their relationship, but whenever she attempted to do so, Zan would become exceedingly sweet, causing Maya to have a change of heart.

Furthermore, Maya had overlooked two critical concerns. Zan was financially dependent on her, and her income was being depleted as a result. Furthermore, Maya’s work was being impacted.

Pooja, one of Maya’s closest friends, expressed her dismay at Maya’s situation. Pooja believed that Zan was taking advantage of Maya for sex and money, and she urged Maya to reconsider her relationship.

Maya was hesitant to acknowledge the truth behind Pooja’s statement, claiming that Zan was merely stressed out because of his business issues and depended on her. She was unaware of how much her mental health was being harmed.

Five days later, something occurred that completely shattered Maya.

  1. I hope Maya is able to overcome this situation with Zan without too much consequence. The relationship sounds toxic.

  2. It is really difficult to be in a relationship with someone who drinks and does not have control of themselves. Most especially those who have anger management issues. They can get scary.

  3. Oh dear, I hope Maya wakes up from this one-sided relationship really soon and find someone who really appreciates her for who she is and what value she brings to the table.

    1. I so agree that the relationship sounds one-sided indeed. Maya deserves better. Any woman deserves better than Zan.

    2. One day it will come. It is easier said than done to just leave, but she is well on her way because she has shown strength before in not talking to him. But she needs to stick to it even when he comes calling.

  4. The cycle of abuse Maya is experiencing hits close to home. It’s all to easy to say “just leave”. Not so easy when you’re in it.

    1. I agree with this, too. Getting abused somehow has an effect both mentally and emotionally that gets the person confused and not able to decide to leave right away. Most especially if it’s someone that they love.

    2. I have to agree with you. When you are in one of these abusive relationships, one’s judgment gets clouded by an emotional pull towards the abuser.

  5. I hope Maya would wake up and get out of the relationship the soonest. Her partner is getting abusive and she should have seen the signs. Not good. Not healthy at all.

    1. I agree with you. Her love for Zan has kept her blind from the harms that staying with him is doing to her.

    1. Totally agree. Some women get easily swayed when their abusive partner shows some affection. They should know that sooner or later, the monster will resurface and the cycle begins again.

    2. Agreed, but sometimes the psychological games these people play make women believe they are useless, worthless and it’s their fault. Praying she wakes up and realizes the truth

  6. I think in such kind of toxic relationship, it’s very difficult to get out. It’s the fear that has set in, which does not allow Maya to make a decision, hope she finds the courage to take the step…

    1. Not even married already getting violent..worst are yet to come better off with someone else

  7. I worry about Maya. it’s funny because you made the story so well I feel as if Maya is my friend, I do want to stand next to Pooja voicing my concerns

  8. Unfortunately, there are several thousand of people in Maya’s position around the world. Hopefully, things for her (and all of them) get better soon.

  9. Being in a one-sided relationship with a situation that one cannot control like alcohol intake can be debilitating. I hope Maya can overcome this.

  10. Maya is stronger than she thinks and I am confident she will have strength to leave Zan.

  11. These are all just red flags. Maya needs to see that. She is trying to “fix” him, but it is NOT her responsibility to do so. She is giving Zan waaaayyy too much credit. If he wanted to he would. He isn’t so move on.

  12. She will never be happy if she continues to be with a guy like that. This isn’t loving. She deserves better. Girls, know your worth. Always pay attention to red flags.

    1. The relationship is really getting toxic and I hope Maya comes to her senses and weighs things with proper consideration and not just emotions. I’m enjoying enjoying story so far.

  13. I wish Maya could see that Zan’s behaviour is not healthy. He shouldn’t be acting like that in front of his friends and belittling Maya. Great story.

  14. I suppose that is the easy way to say that you don’t remember anything about it – that way you don’t have to take account for your actions 🙂

  15. Sheesh this relationship is getting more toxic by the day. Hope all goes well and he realizes what his drunkenness is doing to Maya. Or Maya should take a strong step soon.

  16. reminded me of my close friend who had an ex like that. An Alcholic and a chain smoker with drug absue. It was so hard for my friend to get out of that realtionship.

  17. It’s difficult to keep a safe relations ship with someone that’s too much dependant on alcohol. And for some people it’s not easy to leave this addiction.

  18. Maya needs to know her worth and get out of the abusive relationship. If she really cares for Zan, then she should make sure he gets into a rehab as well because clearly he is suffering too.

  19. Oh.. what cliffhanger… I so admire your fiction skills…so many layers and the hidden meaning… Learning a lot from you.

  20. I hope Maya is able to overcome this situation with Zan so crazy!!! I am totally so into these cant wait to see what happens next

  21. Sadly, so many people find themselves in this situation. I hope Maya has the strength to move on and realise this is her one precious life.

  22. It made me think about how we justify everything in the name of love. One toxic relation can ruin every area of life. Hope this story gets happy.
