If you’ve been holding onto a short story, wondering where it truly belongs, BookPeckers Publishing House and Literary Agency invites you to step forward. Ink & Echo Writers Retreat 1.0 is a short story writing competition created to celebrate originality, emotional depth, and authentic storytelling—without filters, shortcuts, or AI interference.
This competition is for writers who believe words should echo long after the last page is read.
Who Can Participate?
If you are:
- Above 18 years of age
- Writing in English
- Passionate about creative writing, prose, or short stories
Then this competition is for you.
Submission Guidelines
To ensure fair evaluation, please follow these submission rules carefully:
- Format: PDF only
- Font: Simple font
- Font Size: 14, double spaced
- Word Limit: Up to 7,500 words
- Entries Allowed: 1 or 2 creative writings
Each submission must include:
- Story title and genre
- A short blurb
- Trigger warning (if applicable)
- Author introduction paragraph
- Contact details
- Word count
⚠️ Important: AI-generated content is strictly prohibited. Only Grammarly may be used for grammar assistance.
Common Red Flags to Avoid
- DOC or DOCX submissions
- Sending entries via DM or email
- Missing author bio, contact details, or word count
- Use of AI writing tools

Your work will be evaluated by a distinguished panel of literary professionals:
- Anisha Lalvani – Author of Girls Who Stray (Bloomsbury India), known for honest, unfiltered narratives in contemporary and women’s writing.
- Siddhi Palande – Leading book blogger, media professional, and WICCI Maharashtra Women’s Print Media Council member, who values depth, emotional truth, and meaningful storytelling.
- Stuti Changle – National Bestselling Author whose inspirational fiction encourages readers to follow their inner voice and purpose.
- Yasser Usman – Award-winning journalist and bestselling biographer, celebrated for his research-driven and powerful storytelling.
Rewards & Recognition
🎖 12 shortlisted writers will:
- Be featured across BookPeckers’ social media platforms
- Receive a certificate of completion
🏆 Top 3 winners will receive:
- A Letter of Recognition from the jury
