There are a total of 195 countries in the world. Each country is beautiful and is different from the other. Today we will read about the 8 oldest countries in the World.

1. Armenia

1st on the list is Armenia. Armenia was founded in 782 B.C.E. Armenia is believed to be inhibited by humans as early as 90,000 B.C.E as pieces of evidence were found in the form of stone and cave inscriptions. It is known for its rich culture. Armenia is also known as Holy Land.

Best time to visit: Late May to early June and late September to early October
Language: Armenian
Currency: Armenian Dram
Religion Practiced: Christians (97%)

2. Japan

2nd on the list is Japan. Japan came into existence in 660 B.C.E. Japan is said to be the oldest country in the world by age. Japan is also known as the land of the rising sun.

Best time to visit: March to May and September to November
Language: Japanese
Currency: Japanese Yen
Religion Practiced: The indigenous religion of Japan, Shintō, coexists with various sects of Buddhism, Christianity, and some Ancient Shamanistic practices.

3. Ethiopia

Third, we have Ethiopia. Ancient Ethiopia is 4.5 Million Years old. Historians reportedly discovered human skeletons from 980 B.C.E in Ethiopia. People have seen a lot of changes over time in this country. The country is well evolved and has a lot of traditions and customs.

Best Time to Visit: Between October to June
Language: Amharic
Currency: Ethiopian Birr
Religion Practiced: Judaism was practiced in Ethiopia long before Christianity arrived and the Ethiopian Orthodox Bible contains numerous Jewish Aramaic words.

4. Egypt

Fourth on the list is Egypt. It came to existence in 6000 BC. The culture and traditions of Egypt are interlinked. The writing in Egypt dates back to the year 3200 BCE. Its history is well renowned. The country till date has progressed a lot.

Best time to visit: October to April
Language: Arabic
Currency: Egyptian pound
Religion Practiced in Egypt: 90 percent of the population is Sunni Muslim and approximately 10 percent is Christian

5. Greece

Fifth on the list is Greece. It came to existence in 4500 BC. Greece has great emotional ties with the old customs and traditions as it is one of the oldest countries in the world. With time the country has advanced a lot.

Best time to visit: April to early November
Language: Greek
Currency: Euro
Religion Practiced: Christianity

6. Iran

Sixth on the list is Iran. It came into existence in the 16th Century. The Achaemenid empire ruled over Iran in the early years. This dynasty ruled from 330 B.C.E to 550 B.C.E. Iran is deeply tied to its past.

Best time to visit: March to May and September to November
Language: Persian
Currency: Rial
Religion Practiced: Islam. Sunni and Shi’i are the two largest branches of Islam, with the overwhelming majority of Iranians practicing Shi’i Islam. About 90 percent of Iranians practice Shi’ism, the official religion of Iran.

7. China

Seventh on the list is China. China came into existence in 2100 BC. Modern China came into existence around 220 B.C.E. The Shang Dynasty had ruled for a very long time. This country has cultural and traditional ties which date back many years ago.

Best time to visit: April to May and September to October
Language: Mandarin
Currency: Renminbi
Religion Practiced: An official Chinese government statement recognizes five major religions practiced in China—Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Protestantism—as well as many folk beliefs. Most ethnic Tibetans practice a distinct form of Buddhism, Tibetan Buddhism.

8. India

Eighth is India. It is said that the people of this place came together to form a civilization in roughly 1500 B.C.E when they created the Vedic Civilization. So it can be said that India came into existence in 2500 B.C.E. India is a country of diversity so you can find different cultures and religions across the country.

Best time to visit: Throughout the year. Different places in India offer unique experiences all year round!
Language: Hindi
Currency: Rupee
Religion Practiced: While 94% of the world’s Hindus live in India, there also are substantial populations of Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, and Jains.

    Ethiopia is on my list and I am very settled to check out in years to come. China is huge and it needs a big budget but I am adamant to make it my next big trip. My husband lived in China for years and I am sure this will make my trip even better. and I just have to give you high five for adding Japan: it’s my favorite country I am always in for coming back. It has everything you might dream about!

    I would also think Saudi Arabia and Israel would be the oldest countries in the world too, right? Even though they weren’t a true country until the last century or so, they still have a lot of rich history.
