Thank You

People can raise funds for Fathers Day, for Ramadaan Celebration but can’t help someone in real need. Wierd World isn’t it?

Recently I created this page

I really want to ask for help. I want to request for donation to help a friend in need but I feel ashamed, because I don’t know how people may feel.

I seldom write personal or emotional posts which has anything to do with me. Recently, one of my very close friend Mr. X (name changed for privacy) started facing an issue. I’ll give a brief intro about him. He is from Haryana, India and has moved to another state Gujarat, India for business purpose in 2019. He lived in a rented apartment and took a place on rent for work as well. All was well until the lockdown.

When lockdown started in India in middle of March, overnight everything had closed. His business was closed down. Still with whatever he had, he helped his workers, he fed them. Now, with all these charity he had been doing he could not pay his rent of his work place and of the appartment where he was living with his brother.

I was not aware of it. I came back to my home in Mumbai on 17th May 2020. On 25th May I got a call from him asking me if there was any place I knew where he can give his car for mortgage in return for some money, he had his pride to not ask me for any monetary help. I gave him all the contacts I had but later on I got to know that no one helped due to the lockdown.

He did not contact me for a week after that, so I did not know what exactly was going on. A week later I got call from Mr. X’s brother asking me if I knew any place from where they can get some loan. I had a weird feeling, I demanded to talk to Mr X. I got to know that his car has been confiscated by the people where he had his office, reason he had no earnings due to which he could not pay his rent for the office.

I knew no one could help due to the uprising issues like cyclone and etc. in India and then covid-19 lockdown issue was a cherry on the cake, so I did not promise anything.

On 9th June 2020 at 6pm IST, I got a call again from him. I got to know that their landlord had thrown him out of the house but has confiscated all his belongings, his clothes, laptop, documents everything. As he was NOT a LOCALITE there, no one supported him. They had nowhere to stay.

I spoke to a friend and arranged his living there but my friend told me he can give accommodation only for a week. He moved there. Now the landlord and his goons found him there too and this time they took away his phone. Luckily his brother hid his phone.

He couldn’t go back home. So I created page on 10th June so with the feeling that if anyone could help, because the amount he requires is huge but even $400-$500 would have been enough to at least earn him some time and get his things.

I am far enough to reach there. Financially I did what I could but I donate a lot due to which even my funds are limited now.

I approached almost every friend in my contact list, in my facebook friendlist to share this link. I was astonished with the outcome. People who used to come to me calling me their friend had simply vanished. Except Elizabeth Obih-Frank from Mirth and Motivation , Karen Monica from , Dalene Ekirapa of Dal meets Glam and 2 or 3 friends no one even approached to ask the issue.

I even posted in a particular group where I had donated so many times, there I was called a scammer. I am still wondering where did I go wrong. I dont know how to ask for help because I have never in my life asked this type of help earlier. This is my first time.

I understand, globally the condition is not good but you know at least sharing something or saying kind words help to ease the pain.

I have not been able to raise any amount till now, I do not know what is going to happen next.

But one thing what people need to understand is ‘Kind words do not harm’.

This page is still active. I am not going to ask for any help because I don’t want anyone to call me something which I am not.

It makes me sad that things like this happen. In my country, you are given a grace period to pay rent, or you can even pay it in installments once you are able to start work again. I hope your friend will be able to get over his dilemma and start his business again.

  3. I am sorry it happened to him at all. I have shared his story and I hope it will end up the best way possible. People are kind.

  4. It’s nice and kind of you to seek to help a friend. What really matters is the clearness of your purpose, not what others say. I wish you and your friend all the best.

What are his qualifications? I am sorry to be practical, we need to try to get him some earnings. Donations you will not be able to obtain easily. In fact, it will freeze one day. We can discuss if you want, can see how he can be helped.
